"TheDutchTexan" (TheDutchTexan)

Now, usually around this time I post my happy go lucky Cars and Coffee: Dallas video. But, not this time. I always arrive fashionably late, so I can get cars leaving right off the bat, which for me is one of the highlights of going to cars and coffee. I also borrowed a mirrorless DSLR (sony a6000)
People usually get on it a little, and sometimes a lot. Sometimes there is a little burnout, or the impromptu drift. Nothing out of the ordinary, and all great footage.
But... At 8:33am something happened. I had my camera glued to the car as it left. A silver metallic Mustang GT. I remember thinking "That's how I would have ordered mine." Looked great, sounded great... and he was getting on it.
The video shows how it went down. A bad day. But, not just for this driver. When people act out police show up, this is nothing new. I have seen a lapse in enforcement, get some stellar footage, and the next month the police is there at every exit. But when people loose control at car meetings the meet itself can be in jeopardy. This venue has to be the #1 location in the metroplex. The tollway is right there, there are 3 entry and exit points, it is a nicely sized lot and there is plenty of parking surrounding the event for people like me. I would hate for the city of Plano to come in and ban the event, or Classic BMW deciding that they have had enough.
I have no dellusions. I have seen videos like this, have now shot one and there undoubtedly will be others in the future. But I am going to try anyway: When you leave a Cars and Coffee event there are huge crowds at the exits. They want you to get on it, they want you to burn rubber, they want you to show off. Empty your mind. It's you and the car. Don't do something you usually do not. Don't get pressured. You don't want to end up on YouTube like this poor soul. And you don't want to be the guy that got a great meet shut down.

Looking on YouTube, it seems that somebody is embarrassed there almost every year. This was in 2012.

I always watch these videos of Mustangs fishtailing but the drivers never just SLOW DOWN to save themselves from the fishtail. They always seem to try and maintain speed, or even give it more power.
Also, there wouldn't be anyone showing off if there wasn't a crowd by the exit.

It means they lifted totally and the car regained traction. If he stayed in it a little, he could have recovered.
in theory. Shit happens. Ask me how i know.

I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I'm pretty sure that's an unforced error.

Well this isn't good, especially considering they asked everyone to stop doing burnouts. That's a shame, I love where this event is already.
I didn't come today, how was the show? Anything really exciting or different?

There really isn't much more to say... fingers crossed.
The show was good, a lot of cool cars, the Veyron came out again... and a McLaren P1, both of which I got on video leaving. But, a lot of people where acting out, and pushing the limit... And nearly loosing it too. I don't know how much of that I got on video, but man... It is not a good way to end the year...

A P1?! I can't believe I missed that. Oh well, hopefully next month. If there even is one next month. That's so stupid. It's sad to see others ruin a great event.

It is indeed... Other stuff has happened in the past, similar stuff as noted in this thread. But there is always a chance that the bucket flows over... And that would be a sad sad day.

It's always a Mustang! Or a Corvette. Why is it that these two cars are always the primary offenders? I guess lots of HP for not a lot of cash. Idiots.
The cars and Coffee in St. Louis has a no burnout rule. People like to give it the beans when they leave the lot, but it's all pretty sedate. There tend to be a good amount of police around the show checking out the cars too so folks stay pretty well behaved.

Man, I was planning on coming, but at the last second something came up.
Sounds like I missed an..interesting...month. There better be a next month. I love the event, and I think Classic BMW does a great job of hosting. I think it's really something special that they move all their cars just for the meet.
Thanks for videoing! Maybe we can finally meet up next month(unless you are going to the Fort Worth one next weekend where I think I might even take my car since its an open lot)

I was surprised that there wasn't "enforcement" anywhere. Seemed like that guy came just to try to act out — left 30 minutes after it started, being stupid on the access road, etc.

Enforcement was WAY down. Expect lots of enforcement this coming January.
There are rules in place like that here too, but you can't control what people do on the public streets. And that is why I am afraid this could have big consequences for C&C: Dallas in a whole.

It is a bit out of my way. I am planning on going to that one when the weather warms up in 2015.
Perhaps you'll run into me next month indeed!

That would be terrible if a few jackasses like that caused a shutdown of C&C.

Let's just pray to what car gods we've got that your C&C isn't cancelled like the one in Charlotte was for a short period of time because of a Mustang..(I like Mustangs BTW)
Not my video nor am I in NC, but this one became interweb famous really quick when it happened.
And it's not a 5.0, it's actually a V6.

Trust me... I am praying...
This month was especially bad when it came to hooniganism. It will be evident in the C&C video I will be posting tomorrow. I am not talking about the hard acceleration, I am talking people getting sideways, roasting the tires and getting squirrelly like that mustang. A vette nearly lost it in a similar fashion but got the car back in line. And yes, that is on video too.
I remember thinking "Damn... not another one..." whilst I was filming.
